Our determined #sykwarriors took part in the East Malaysia Zone Shitoryu Karate (EMZSK) Championship 2018 in Bintulu from 12th to 16th December 2018.
The competition was fierce, but our players were fiercer! Shinyuukai clinched a total of 24 medals - 12 Gold, 5 Silver, 7 Bronze.
It was two full days of competition, kick started by the endearing 6 to 9-year-olds, who definitely stole hearts with their kata.
The team was endlessly supportive of each other, cheering and clapping from the sidelines every time one of our warriors took the stage. The Shinyuukai Spirit was truly thriving at the competition venue, and we all could not have done it without the constant support and encouragement from teammates, parents, and of course, the ever so dedicated Sensei Cindy and Shihan Robert.
The competition came to a close and it was moment after moment of pride to see our warriors walk up the stage to receive their medals, the Singapore flag resting comfortably on their shoulders.
At the end of the award ceremony, we all sat in nervous anticipation, awaiting the announcement of who had won the Team Challenge trophy for this year. The moment seemed to stretch forever and we all held our breaths.
"Shinyuukai Shitoryu Singapore!"
Our entire team erupted in cheers, fists pumping in the air, and brilliant smiles plastered every face. The Team Challenge Trophy was ours for the second year in a row!
